From 36- to 41-year-old vines on gray slate in the main part of the VDP. Grosse Lage, the Pündericher 2018 Marienburg GG is pure and stony on the deep, fine, fresh and elegant yet rather ascetic, terroir-driven nose. Pure, elegant and finessed on the piquant and salty palate, this is a finely juicy yet elegant and tensioned Riesling with grip, salt and perfectly ripe, healthy fruit. The wine is pure even in this challenging warm and dry vintage. It is neither massive nor all too powerful and, if you so will, the classic of an extraordinary year. 13% alcohol.
