The Wine Advocate:

The 2016 Viñas Viejas was produced in the same way as the 2015, but the élevage changed, as they purchased 500-liter French oak barrels, and the aging was partly in these barrels, partly in 225-liter barriques and partly in stainless steel, as some 3,000 liters were completely unoaked. It has a floral and elegant style; the year is cooler than the 2015 I tasted next to it, and the wine reflects it with a lighter body and more freshness. The oak is better integrated, and the fruit is less ripe. It's balanced and elegant, with the chalky tannins and texture of the limestone soils, and it has very good length. 11,873 bottles and 300 magnums were produced. It was bottled in May 2018.
