The Wine Advocate:

The 2017 La Loma shows a profound change over the 2015, even though 2017 was not an easy vintage at all. This is a single-vineyard wine from the plot in the southwest of Briones that gives the wine its name, 1.46 hectares planted in 1946 with Tempranillo and Garnacha on red marl soils. The wine has lots of energy and inner power, and they did a soft vinification (definitely right!) to obtain a subtle wine. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in small stainless steel tanks and matured in two 500-liter barrels (bocoyes) and seven 225-liter barriques, all French, for a period of 14 months. The wine is perfumed and elegant, powerful but very balanced. 3,495 bottles were filled in March 2019.
