Lan Xtreme 2015

A woody red with vanilla and toasted-oak character to the ripe red fruit. Medium body. Fruity finish at the end. Not the most complex red, but outstanding in the Rioja wooded style. From organically grown grapes.
 

It's good to see a small but growing number of organic wines emerging from Rioja. This pure Tempranillo is now in its second vintage and comes from a stony plot in the Viña Lanciano estate. The oak is a little too assertive right now, but there's plenty of crunchy blackberry fruit to balance it as the wine ages. 2021-25
