The Wine Advocate:

2016 was a warm and dry year in the Toledo region, with hail that lowered yields and resulted in a short but healthy crop. The 2016 Malabra is pure Garnacha from two plots in the village of Menasalbas planted in 1975 and 1980. It fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts after a four-day maceration, which is the time it took for the fermentation to start, and matured in 300-liter oak barrels without racking for ten months. It has ripeness, and the Mediterranean character of the year is pretty visible, but it also has elegance and freshness. The wine is quite pure, with a bright ruby color, fruit dominated by red fruit and spicy and herbal notes. It has a medium-bodied palate, where the tannins are fine and there's good balance. Very tasty. 2,800 bottles were filled in August 2017.
