Malvasia Fina by António 2017

The 2017 Malvasia Fina (by António) was partly (80%) aged for 12 months in half neutral and half new French barrels (the remaining 20% in stainless steel). It comes in very dry and at 13.5% alcohol. Round yet well supported by acidity, this has caressing texture and shows some personality as well. Malvasia is not always flamboyant, but it should not be bland either. I was less thrilled with the earlier vintage I saw, but the winery gets this year very right. There were 1,300 bottles produced from 15-year-old vines.
