The single vineyard 2011 Octonia is procuded with fruit from one plot planted in 1940 in Capçanes. The blend varies slightly with the vintage, and is 45% Garnacha Tinta, 40% Garnacha Peluda and 15% Cariñena. The wine has somehow a Priorat character, even if the soils are different and there is clay and limestone here. But there are notes of graphite, peat, ripe black fruit (the year was warm) in a powerful and concentrated way. It matured in 400-liter French oak barrels for 16 months and it shows, with plenty of oak-related aromas and flavors ,and abundant tannins that will require some more time in bottle. 2,375 bottles produced.
