Plaer 2018

Like most of the reds here, the 2018 Plaer is a blend of 70% Cariñena and 30% Garnacha from different villages—El Molar, Bellmunt, Falset, Porrera, Poboleda, El Lloar and Torroja del Priorat. So the wines tend to be quite similar, and as you go higher in the price hierarchy, they seem to have more ripeness, concentration and oak. This matured in second use French oak barrels for 12 months. Despite everything, this is quite balanced and fresh for its 15% alcohol, with a volatile touch and notions of wet stones. It's full-bodied and has abundant tannins.
