The Wine Advocate:

The characterful and tasty 2014 Blanco de Guarda (white de garde), must own its originality to the fact that it has a complex and unusual varietal mix (Albillo, Viura, Jaen, Malvasía, Chasselas Doré, etc.) picked in early October with only 13% alcohol and very high acidity, which makes it apt to produce a long-lived white. It reminded me more of the few whites from Sierra de Salamanca than anything from Ribera del Duero and thereabouts. It fermented in used barrique and stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, it didn't go through malolactic fermentation and it matured in concrete and used barriques for 12 months. The wine is ripe and ready, but it should keep for a few more years. 890 bottles were filled in January 2016.
