Rafa Usoz is making some fantastic reds at Sonsierra right now, right up there with some of the best co-operative wines in Spain. This old-vine Tempranillo, sourced from lower vineyards away from the mountains in rainy 2014 is suave, floral and smooth, with raspberry and blackberry fruit, scented oak and subtle, granular tannins. 2021-28

James Suckling:

Extremely perfumed with dried lavender, dark berries and sandalwood on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, firm and silky with a racy and beautiful finish. Needs time to open. Better after 2021.
