Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca 2020

The varietal 2020 Garnacha Blanca was produced with a variety that was almost extinct in the region, a grape they need to pick early to achieve the profile they are looking for, moderate alcohol (12.5% this year) and fluid. It was fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeast and matured in a combination of Flextank (plastic egg), 500-liter oak barrels, 2,000-liter Stockinger oak vat and stainless steel. The grapes come from a 13-year-old vineyard in the village of Fitero on thick gravel and limestone soils. It has an expressive nose, more aromatic than the variety normally is, with a hint of creaminess, but there's a chalky sensation on the palate. There's purity and crystalline quality, very precise and fine. It's pungent, and the oak is neatly integrated into the wine. The whites are getting better and better. Another incredible bargain. 9,700 bottles were filled in September 2021.
