"Some eight years after the harvest ,they offer the 2008 Gran Calzadilla, mostly Tempranillo with some 30% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from their oldest vineyards; it matured in brand new American oak barrels for 18 months. This is somehow a wine from another era, and even after all these years, it still feels quite oaky with the strong aromas that American oak usually provides, and a common blurry sensation I also found in other wines. The palate has plenty of oak-related flavors and surprising acidity. For fans of the style. 5,000 bottles produced and filled unfiltered in September 2011".
