The 2016 Tinto Quinta da Manoella is mostly a 60/25 blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, with Tinta Roriz and Tinta Francisca filling out the blend. It was aged for 16 months in used French oak and comes in at 14% alcohol. Set to be bottled a few days after this tasting, this is the final blend. Textured and more concentrated than the 2015, this Tinto is sourced from 30- to 40-year-old vines and seems very fine again this year, the nice value point in the lineup. The tannins are ripe, but evident. They provide good support for the fruit, which is exuberant and flavorful. Elegant and fruit forward, this is a nice value.
