These new releases from St. Pauls, especially the whites, are just beautiful. The 2020 Alto Adige Pinot Bianco Plötzner is primary and bright with citrus, cut sage, fresh grass and softer notes of pear and orchard fruit. The lean-bodied wine is streamlined and simple in approach, with immediate freshness and pleasing accessibility. Maybe try some grilled herb-chicken sausages and a potato salad to pair here. They made some 75,000 bottles of this wine.
Attractive nose of fresh pineapple, almond and snow peas. Good substance, but very crisp acidity for this grape. Some drive at the peppery finish. Drink now.
Aromatic, with hints of jasmine, melon, apricot and peach, then subtle white pepper, pear drop and lifted acidity to the palate.
