Wine Enthusiast:

Initially firm and dry, this wine blossoms quickly with its delicious fruit and penetrating acidity. Fine tannins sustain this black-currant and berry fruit along with the complex texture and structure. Produced from biodynamic grapes, the wine has great potential.

James Suckling:

There’s a dark olive and iodine thread here as well as ripe dark plums, blackberries and fresh violets. The palate has a very succulent, vibrant and energetic feel, not to mention good depth and detail. Second wine of Château Durfort Vivens.

Decanter:

Proof of the excellent work that has been done at Durfort Vivens over recent years. It has lashings of dark fruit that is clearly ripe, but they have held back on the throttle, offering a slice of classical Margaux for drinking over the next ten to 20 years. This is their third vintage in biodynamics. 40% of overall production in this wine.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2015 Durfort Vivens has a predictably leafier and more herbaceous bouquet than its Margaux peers, though not unattractive with a slight steely edge. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm, grainy tannin in the mouth. I appreciate the balance here and compared to recent vintages, there is clearly more fruit concentration on the finish, a pleasant salinity on the aftertaste. For those that prefer a leaner style of Claret, this comes recommended, and as I have seen in the past, it tends to put on weight by the time it is in bottle. - Neal Martin.
