Great peach nose with overtones of mango and papaya, pulling you into this very rich but beautifully balanced Mosel riesling that’s barely off-dry, thanks to the laser beam of acidity that runs through it from the tip of the tongue to the long, very complex finish. Drink or hold.
Based on ripe and partly overripe grapes picked at the end of the harvest in later October, the 2019 Kestener Paulinsberg Riesling Auslese feinherb is clear, intense and concentrated on the spicy mirabelle and Indian chutney nose with curry and ginger. On the palate, this is a concentrated and lean Auslese with concise acidity and remarkable concentration. The acidity is malic and sharp, but this is their Mosel style. Love it or leave it. Or wait before you decide. At east this is promising and concentrated Riesling. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.
