San Román Garnacha 2021

The pale red 2021 Garnacha, from old vines on sandy soils at 710 meters in altitude, is perfumed and nuanced, showy and ripe, with a clean and expressive nose of flowers, red berries, herbs and spices. It has a medium-bodied palate that is juicy and subtle, with abundant, fine-grained tannins. 2021 was a cooler year, very apt for producing fresher and more elegant wines. It has 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.6 and is young and evolving slowly. The full clusters fermented with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in 500-liter barrels for 19 months. This is the finest Garnacha from San Román so far. 3,000 bottles were filled in May 2023.
