Indie Xisto è un rosso da singolo appezzamento proveniente da un vigneto di circa 70 anni situato ad Alijó, nella regione del Douro. Il vigneto, piantato su terreni di ardesia blu, è composto da un blend tradizionale in cui predomina la Tinta Roriz, insieme ad altre varietà autoctone. L'annata 2021 è stata prodotta con grappoli interi e fermentazione in vasche di cemento, seguita da un affinamento in fusti e barrique di rovere da 500 litri. Il risultato è un vino dal profilo austero e preciso, con tannini fini e un carattere minerale intenso. Di produzione molto limitata, è un vino pensato per evolversi favorevolmente in bottiglia.

The single-vineyard 2021 Indie Xisto was produced with grapes from a 70-year-old plot on blue slate in the zone of Alijo in Douro planted with a field blend that has a lot of Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), but many other varieties too. In 2021, he changed the vinification, which was previously in lagar. This fermented in concrete with full clusters and matured in oak foudres and some 500-liter oak barrels. This is always quite closed, and for Seabra, the blue slate gives very closed and austere wines, while yellow slate gives more open and rounder wines. The palate is also very austere and tannic, but the tannins are fine and the wine is clean and balanced. It takes time in the glass to open up to floral and elegant notes and becomes a lot more nuanced in the direction of a red from the Northern Rhône. It's going to need time in bottle. In 2021, most of the reds were around 12.5% alcohol. 4,300 bottles produced.

This is really floral, with cherries, slate, dried herbs and a balsamic note. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with powdery tannins, plenty of crunchy fruit and a long and persistent finish. Better from 2026.
