Château Poujeaux è uno dei vini rossi più prestigiosi della sottozona bordolese di Moulis. In questa annata con rese basse e ottima concentrazione, le prime degustazioni ci fanno pensare a un vino rosso potente ma delicato, con una grande complessità aromatica dominata da note di violetta, ribes e pietra focaia. Al palato spiccano la sua finezza, rotondità, profondità ed equilibrio.&nbsp

Vista
Colore granato intenso con riflessi violacei brillanti.
Profumo
Intensamente aromatico con note di violetta, ribes nero, pietra focaia e scatola di sigari.
Bocca
L'attacco è armonioso e vellutato, con tannini morbidi. Un vino che mostra una bella mineralità, delicatezza ed eleganza. Il retrogusto è incredibilmente lungo.
Temperatura di servizio
Si consiglia di servire a 16 °C.

Fino al 2036 circa, se conservato in condizioni ottimali.

Clima
Le piogge abbondanti dell'autunno e l'atmosfera super umida ma mite hanno fatto germogliare presto le viti. Ai terreni bagnati e al tempo instabile si è aggiunta la minaccia della peronospora, che ha costretto i team della cantina a uscire dal lockdown per l'emergenza sanitaria e a lavorare per mantenere in salute il vigneto. La fine delle piogge a metà giugno ha portato a un miglioramento delle condizioni delle viti, ma l'estate calda, quasi torrida, ha fatto anticipare una vendemmia matura e di alta qualità

Vinificazione
Fermentazione delle uve intere in 51 tini di acciaio inox, rovere e cemento a temperatura controllata e di diverse capacità, pensati per vinificare ogni vigneto separatamente. Estrazione con rimontaggi. Macerazione da 20 a 25 giorni.
Invecchiamento
Invecchiamento di 12 mesi in botti di rovere francese (il 33% nuove).

This has a dusty character with black cherries and currants, as well as hints of cocoa, wet earth and raw mushrooms. Medium- to full-bodied with ripe, plush tannins that continue to build up throughout the deep, dark-fruited palate. It’s a muscular Poujeaux with a spicy and chocolatey finish. Try after 2026.

Wine Enthusiast:

Barrel Sample. Owned by a member of the Cuvelier family, this estate has produced a ripe, juicy wine bright with black currant and rich with generous tannins. The future is good for this carefully structured wine. 

Decanter:

Good depth of colour to the fruit, deep plum, with attractive fresh fruit aromatics. Confident tannic frame with acidity and black fruits - all the elements to ensure it will age. There isn't the richness of the fruit that you will find in 2016 but it is full of personality and easy to recommend. One of the more successful wines from Moulis in the vintage. Lots of tannins, and a point of bitterness on the close of play that needs to be carefully handled during ageing. A yield of 34hl/ha. Drinking Window 2025-2036.

Jeb Dunnuck:

Another surprisingly concentrated Moulis, the 2020 Château Poujeaux sports a dense ruby/purple color as well as terrific cassis and black cherry fruits, notes of tobacco and cedar, medium to full body, and a dense, layered mid-palate. It's terrific and one of the more age-worthy, serious wines I've tasted from this address, while still having plenty of up-front appeal. Tasted twice.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2020 Poujeaux is a strong follow-up to the excellent 2019. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, minty blackberries, pencil shavings and licorice, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and lively, with excellent concentration, refined tannins and a penetrating finish. A touch more tightly wound out of the gates than the 2019, it will reward a few years' patience with a broad drinking window.
