Selvapiana ha cercato per anni diversi posti dove piantare il Sangiovese per mostrare le diverse espressioni di questa varietà nella zona di Rufina. Nel 1998 ha comprato questo vigneto, che è stato ripiantato nel 1999 e che produce un vino un po' più caldo rispetto agli altri della cantina. È un vino con un'intensità aromatica notevole e un gusto potente e corposo, ma piacevole grazie ai suoi tannini delicati.

Vigna e preparazione
rimane a contatto con le bucce per 35-40 giorni. Successivamente si procede alla fermentazione malolattica.

Wow. What glorious aromas of pure fruit with black cherries and currants. Really floral, too. Orange peel and tangerines. Full-bodied with really focused, polished tannins that coat your mouth, yet remain fine and beautiful. Goes on for minutes. Drinkable now, but much better in 2023 when it will have softened and come together.
Dried red plum and medicinal herbs are forward in the 2017 Chianti Rufina Riserva Vigneto Erchi, with worn leather and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, the mid-palate is round with sun baked cherry, turned earth, and supple, ripe tannins. A light rustic touch makes for a classic yet approachable wine to drink over the next 10-12 years.
