The Wine Advocate:

The 2017 Baloiro Reserva is a wine that comes like a blast from the past but feels quite balanced and harmonious, from a very challenging vintage and a completely different enological era. However, the wine comes through as aromatic and polished, with elegant rusticity, resolved tannins and developed flavors and aromas. It has 14.5% alcohol and matured in 225-liter French oak barrels for 16 months. It's powerful but without excess. 6,200 bottles were filled in December 2019.

Tim Atkin:

This 2017 Mencía is a very good example of the impressive potential for the variety to age. Only made in good years, the wine has spent 16 months in barrel, as well as around six years in bottle. Tannins are soft and the wine has rounded out. Classic in style, it is elegant with a fresh core and the oak has integrated well. Strawberry fruit and a hint of chocolate lead to woody spice and a peppery finish. 2024-27
