Siamo in un posto dove il Syrah dà il meglio di sé. A Hermitage, nel nord della Valle del Rodano, Michel Chapoutier ha passato tutta la vita a tirare fuori il meglio dalle sue colline. Monier de la Sizeranne usa tre dei migliori lieux-dits ( Bessards, Greffieux e Méal and les Beaumes) per creare un rosso con un perfetto equilibrio tra struttura, mineralità e freschezza

Vista
Colore granato intenso.
Profumo
Aromi di frutta rossa (lampone, ribes nero) con un tocco di liquirizia
Bocca
Rotondo, elegante e con tannini concentrati. Spiccano le note di ribes nero, lampone e pepe.
Temperatura di servizio
Si consiglia di servirlo a 16 °C.
Consumo
Fino al 2037 se lo tieni in condizioni perfette.
Abbinamento
Perfetto con carni dal sapore intenso come la selvaggina.

Vigna e preparazione

Descrizione
I vigneti vengono da tre appezzamenti mitici come Les Bessards, Le Méal e Les Greffieux.
Suolo
Mescola di terreni granitici, alluvionali, ghiaiosi e limosi con ciottoli.
Raccolto
Vendemmiare fatto a mano.
Vinificazione
Diraspato completo e fermentazione in vasche di cemento, con due pigiature al giorno, a una temperatura tra i 30 e i 33 °C.
Invecchiamento
Affinamento di 18 mesi in botti di rovere (85%) e vasche di cemento.

An excellent Hermitage with the imposing structure we expect from this appellation, but also excellent balance. Stacks of elderberry and pepper, and also a touch of leather. So much depth and expression, but not a jot overbearing or heavy. In spite of the serious tannins at the finish there are wonderful flashes of red and black berry fruit. From blocks with granitic and sedimentary soils. Some whole bunch. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2020 Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne is loaded with cassis and blueberries—it's a really fruit-forward Hermitage, but one that still shows a modicum of granitic restraint on the medium to full-bodied palate, smooth, silky tannins and an elegant finish.

Decanter:

Fairly closed at the time of tasting, but has satisfying concentration on the palate, good acidity and fine tannin. The acidity is surprisingly high in fact, and brings a welcome freshness and drive to the blackberry fruit. This has everything it needs to be a very fine Hermitage in time, but for now this is very much an embryonic wine that will strongly benefit from ageing before broaching. It's not the most powerful or concentrated, but the freshness, length and balance make for a lovely vintage of this wine. Oak work is discrete.
