Almirez è un vino fruttato con una buona struttura, tannini morbidi, equilibrio e un retrogusto intenso. Le annate precedenti hanno ottenuto ripetutamente punteggi alti, rendendolo uno dei vini più costanti di Toro. Un classico moderno.

Coltivazione dei vigneti nel rispetto dell'ambiente e del territorio. Intervento minimo, perfetto adattamento al "terroir". Non si usano erbicidi né prodotti sistemici, in linea con i bioritmi della natura. Potatura corta in alberello. Concimazione con materia organica.

Raccolto
Vendemmiare fatto a mano con una selezione super attenta dei frutti che sono in ottime condizioni e maturi sia in vigna che in cantina, usando un tavolo di cernita. È stata fatta tra il 12 e il 30 settembre 2022.
Vinificazione
Vinificazione tradizionale con diraspato e pigiatura. Macerazione e fermentazione con le bucce per 21 giorni a una temperatura tra i 20 e i 25 °C. Fermentazione malolattica in botti di rovere francese.
Invecchiamento
Invecchiamento di 14 mesi, il 30% in barrique nuove di rovere francese e il 70% in barrique monouso.

In Toro, 2022 was also a warm and dry year, and the wines have a little less alcohol and ripeness but not as much as in Rioja. In fact, Marcos Eguren told me he likes 2022 more in Toro than 2021. The 2022 Almirez has fruit and structure and is perfumed and aromatic, with notes of fennel and aniseed. It has a juicy, round and fleshy palate with tannins that are fine and more polished tannins than in the wines from Rioja, as the vineyards are more adapted to the warm and dry conditions. In 2022, they aged it in French oak barrels, 30% of them new, for 14 months. This is possibly the most structured of the range. 80,000 bottles produced. James Suckling:

A brooding Toro that manages to deliver lots of fruit while it maintains freshness and good acidity. Aromas of blue fruit, dark cherries, cocoa powder, hibiscus, minerals and spices. Full-bodied and structured, showing nicely chewy tannins that are tight-grained but not aggressive. Excellent freshness. Give it one more year to resolve. - Zekun Shuai, Senior Editor.
