La Baixada è un vino rosso del Priorat di Viña Clasificada, fatto da Álvaro Palacios, soprattutto con uve Garnacha e un po' di Garnacha bianca, che vengono da un unico appezzamento di 1,30 ettari. Questa annata ha un profilo super raffinato ed elegante.

Profumo
Profumo intenso e terroso, con note minerali e di frutti rossi e neri.
Bocca
Palato raffinato con tannini abbondanti e delicati. In bocca, il Grenache spicca per la sua intensità e grinta, con note di ribes rosso. Finale lungo e deciso.
Temperatura di servizio
Si consiglia di servirlo a 16 °C.
Consumo
Ottimo fino al 2040 circa se tenuto bene. Ti consiglio di decantarlo.

Clima
Continental con un tocco mediterraneo. In questa annata spicca la siccità, con una piovosità di 250 litri tra novembre 2022 e ottobre 2023. Durante i mesi primaverili sono caduti solo 43 litri. Per questo, e per la prima volta nella storia, hanno dovuto usare tecniche di irrigazione precise nelle zone con basso assorbimento d'acqua.
Raccolto
Vendemmiare fatto tra l'8 e il 10 settembre.
Vinificazione
Fermentato in botti di rovere con lieviti autoctoni.
Invecchiamento
È stato fatto maturare in foudres ovali di rovere francese per 13 mesi, e poi altri due mesi in cemento.
Imbottigliamento
Nel febbraio 2025.

A portion of the fruit from the 1.3ha La Baixada vineyard used to go into Finca Dofí, until the site achieved Vinya Classificada status in 2018. Tasting en primeur, this is just a little reduced on the nose, but in the mouth the Garnacha (with 5% Garnacha Blanca) sings with vivid, punchy redcurrant fruit. Finishes lightly dry. The essence of Priorat. I have always liked this wine, this vintage even more so.

The 2023 La Baixada wine is from a "vinya classificada" (a classified vineyard), one of the official single-vineyard categories of the Priorat appellation, 1.3 hectares of organically farmed vines on slopes in the village of Gratallops at 293 to 345 meters above sea level, mostly Garnacha with 5% Garnacha Blanca. It fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in oval French oak foudres for 13 months, followed by a further two months in concrete. It was bottled with 14.4% alcohol, a pH of 3.47 and 4.87 grams of acidity. The sample that I tasted unbottled last year was darker and earthier; this has kept a deeper color and a powerful and earthy nose but a more polished palate with abundant, fine-grained, slightly dusty tannins. This is definitely an earthier wine. 3,460 bottles were filled in February 2025. Luis Gutiérrez.

Tim Atkin:

Incredibly bright and floral; rose petals, violets, blood orange and raspberry fruits all mingle together here, over a base over fresh, juicy strawberry fruit. Utterly gorgeous Garnacha. Direct, firm and driven, but the aromatics are just something else. 2024-2034

James Suckling:

Minerals and blue and red berries on the nose. The tannins are firm but minerally etched, giving structure and verticality to a long, tight and stony finish. Slightly chewy. Drink from 2026.
