James Suckling:

Complex aromas and flavors with so much perfume, showing dark cherries and raspberries with cedar and sandalwood character. Stony, salty undertones. Very refined tannins lead to a bright, vivid finish with dried mushrooms. Such class. A blend of 45% cabernet franc, 35% merlot and 20% cabernet sauvignon. Drinkable now but better in 2028.

Decanter:

Supple and textured, grip and presence in the mouth with crisp, chalky and slightly firm tannins with a dark but cool fruit edge underneath. Still feels a little shy and tight, not yet super expressive. Feels well made with nice structure, missing a touch more length and joy. A little serious.

Notes of bay leaf, ripe dark berries, spices, plum and dark cherries introduce the 2023 Canon la Gaffelière, a medium- to full-bodied wine that is enveloping and chewy, built around a fleshy core of fruit that gains depth and power over the course of élevage.
