Descrizione

The Wine Advocate:

The nose of the white 2024 Valtuille El Val is outstanding, possibly the finest vintage for this bottling so far. It was cropped from a cooler and balanced year, from the lieu-dit El Val that was planted with Godello 40 years ago then regrafted to the white variety a few years ago, something that is becoming more and more common in Bierzo. It fermented in barrel with indigenous yeast and matured in those 500-liter barrels with the lees but without any bâtonnage for one year. It has a golden color and is a jump up from the varietal Godello; this is from a cooler plot, and the wine is complex, nuanced and elegant but with power. It has 13.2% alcohol, a low pH of 3.2 and 7.15 grams of acidity, all natural, showcasing the freshness from the year. It's very delineated and elegant. 1,800 bottles were filled in December 2024.

James Suckling:

Very transparent with a steely nose of salted lemons. The medium- to full-bodied palate is pure and symmetrical, incisive yet delicate, with inherent tension that adds seriousness and depth. Sourced from a single parcel of old vines on rocky clay soil. Fermented and aged in 500-liter neutral French oak barrels. Long and persistent. Drink now or hold.
