Profumo
Dalla cantina dicono che questo Château Mouton Rothschild 2022 è brillante come l'anno in cui è stato fatto. Intenso fin dall'inizio, ha aromi concentrati di frutta nera fresca e super matura, con note di ribes nero e mora, delicatamente sottolineate da tocchi di grafite e grani di cacao.
Bocca
Vino di una profondità infinita, corposo, generoso, cremoso, morbido e di grande purezza. Sensazioni di legno di cedro, spezie e pepe bianco completano la varietà. La sua complessità, il suo sapore e i suoi tannini, con un delicato tocco di liquirizia, sembrano infiniti.

Vigna e preparazione

Descrizione
Vigneti piantati su collinette (da qui il nome dello "château") in una stretta striscia di terra lunga 80 chilometri e larga da 5 a 10 chilometri, vicino al fiume Gironda, che dà un sacco di acqua in profondità. La proprietà confina a nord con la foresta delle Landes, che fa da barriera protettiva e rende le temperature più miti, già moderate dall'influenza del fiume.

Fine, povero e friabile, fatto di ghiaia, pietre e ciottoli che trattengono il calore del sole, mescolati con sabbia e argilla
Clima
il 2022 è stato fin dall'inizio un anno mite e secco. Il tempo soleggiato ha dominato per tutto il ciclo di crescita della vite, con diverse ondate di caldo. Le piogge sono state scarse dalla primavera fino alla fine della vendemmia, tranne due episodi degni di nota ad aprile e quelli più intensi a giugno, che hanno riempito le riserve d'acqua nel terreno. Le viti hanno saputo regolare il loro apporto idrico e hanno dimostrato una grande capacità di adattamento alle condizioni climatiche eccezionali dell'annata. In queste condizioni di caldo e siccità, la fioritura è avvenuta 10 giorni prima della media e, sebbene rapida, è stata perfettamente uniforme. Il ciclo vegetativo è proseguito fino alla vendemmia, poiché le uve sono maturate in modo costante in condizioni ideali.
Raccolto
Vendemmiare a mano dal 1° al 26 settembre. L'uva era in ottima forma. Anche se il caldo ha fatto sì che i grappoli fossero un po' piccoli, avevano un livello di concentrazione e equilibrio che non si trova spesso.

Wow. The aromas here are so complete with blackcurrants, asphalt, violets, lead pencil, orange blossoms and black truffles. A perfect nose. It's full-bodied yet tied down with seamless tannins that run the length of the wine and give such a seductive mouthfeel and persistence. A vintage with one of the highest percentages of cabernet sauvignon ever. Quintessential, great Bordeaux with no limits. Drink after 2028.

Moving to the flagship, the 2022 Château Mouton Rothschild is a massive, full-bodied, incredibly powerful 2022 that takes no prisoners with its ripe black and blue fruits, chocolate, graphite, and smoked tobacco-driven aromas and flavors. Deep, unctuous, and concentrated, with velvety tannins, this legendary Mouton is based on 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot that's still resting in new barrel. It will unquestionably play with the top wines in the vintage. Harvest here began the 1st of September and finished on the 26th, and the final wine hit 14% natural alcohol, with a pH of 3.89 and an IPT of 76.

One of my favourite 2022s, technically very brilliant but it’s the texture that wows, generous, fruity, sleek, supple, it gives stone and graphite touches putting the terroir in the glass and overall this just screams elegance and finesse and above all drinkability! Smooth and shiny, silky, sleek, delicious from the first sip. Mouthwatering acidity combined with tannins that have the perfect balance of flinty grip, fleshy fruit and cool minerality. Certainly not shouting, they haven't pushed too far at all, more restrained and refined while still delivering a gorgeous mouthful of wine. Classy and refreshing. Concentrated but clean, pure and vibrant. Wonderful, magical - giving the concentration of the hot vintage which is want you want, but this is moreish and so succulent. One you'll want to finish the glass and then have more immediately. 16.4% press - 4% above normal, usually at 12-13%. 49% grand vin. 3.89pH. 76 IPT. Aged 100% in new barrels. 98-100 points. 

The Wine Advocate:

The 2022 Mouton Rothschild is one of the most muscular, almost brutally powerful wines of the vintage. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries, plums and sweet crème de cassis mingled with notions of espresso roast, pencil lead and petroleum jelly, it's full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with huge reserves of tannin and fruit. A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot that represents 49% of the estate's production, this is a prodigious Mouton that's built for the cellar.
