The vintage edition of Devaux's D range shows well in 2014, a 'classic' Champenois vintage according to cellar master Michel Parisot. It's an unusual assemblage of 50% each Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir from the Côte des Bar. Some of 2014's bright, lime-like acidity from Chardonnay is a welcome shot of energy through the middle of dried apple, hard apricot and sugared tangerine fruit, juicy and easy while smoothed out with some nut-butter richness. It's an approachable, nicely aligned vintage Champagne that offers plenty at the price.
