In the bottle with the etched glass label, the Reyneke 2021 Stellenbosch Reserve Syrah is made with biodynamic and certified organic fruit. This is such a fun wine. The bouquet has a zesty or spicy side with crushed white peppercorn, tart blackberry and crushed stone. It offers medium intensity and good length, all capped off with slightly stemmy tannins. A natural fermentation kicks off in open-top fermenters with 30% foot-crushed whole-cluster fruit. This release of 5,200 bottles ages in second and third-fill French barrique for 18 months.
This classy and fragrant syrah has aromas of sandalwood, iron, wild cherries, nutmeg and sweet basil. It’s focused and spicy on the palate, remaining fresh, with a medium body and firm, slightly dusty tannins. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Try from 2025.
