Vista
Colore rubino ciliegia con tonalità intense e riflessi aranciati.
Profumo
Intenso e delicato, con un sacco di aromi di cioccolato e caffè insieme a frutta matura, un po' di uva passa e composta.
Bocca
Persistente, rotondo, equilibrato, vellutato, con tannini raffinati e gustosi e un retrogusto di caramello.
Temperatura di servizio

Uve che vengono dai vigneti più vecchi della cantina, che hanno le rese più basse.
Raccolto
Vendemmia manuale e selettiva.
Vinificazione
Fermentazione a temperatura controllata tra 26 e 27 gradi per 12 giorni.
Invecchiamento
Invecchiamento di 48 mesi (4 anni) in botti di rovere americano di 5-6 anni, durante il quale sono stati fatti 8 travasi con il metodo tradizionale per gravità e decantazione. Poi ha riposato almeno 36 mesi in bottiglia.

Still remarkably youthful for a wine with a decade under its belt, this cuvée of Tempranillo, 3% Garnacha and 2% Graciano comes from a pair of parcels in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, called El Codo and El Llano. Spicy, savoury and driven by acidity, it has layers of clove, ginger and wild strawberry, filigree tannins and lots of zip and energy. 2027-36

The Gran Reserva is also the same as I tasted last year, the 2016 Señorío de P Peciña Gran Reserva, a textbook example of the category, with a developed nose of forest floor, truffles, tobacco leaves and cigar box, iodine and brick dust with an ashy twist. The fruit is fading and giving way to tertiary notes and more aromatic complexity. It has good ripeness, 14.05% alcohol and good balance, with fine and mostly resolved tannins and a dry, chalky finish. Following the strictest tradition, it matured in used American oak barrels for four years, during which time it was racked every six months. 16,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2021.
