Tim Atkin:

Gran Chobeo is the most international in style of Pedro Peciña's delicious range of reds, as it's entirely matured in new American oak and completes its malolactic in barrel. Inky, concentrated and serious, it has lots of old-vine concentration, bramble and red berry fruit and a sheen of spicy vanilla oak. 2023-32

The Wine Advocate:

The red 2012 Gran Chobeo de Peciña is absorbing the oak nicely and despite being a more "modern" wine, it's moving into the more classical profile with time in bottle. This is pure Tempranillo with moderate ripeness and 13.5% alcohol, a medium body and vibrant acidity; it fermented with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic in barrel and nine months in new American oak barrels with rackings every three months. It shows some development, but it's still energetic and lively and should last well in bottle. It has some smoky Rhône-ish notes and a medium-bodied palate with very fine, chalky tannins. 2,500 bottles were filled in August 2014. Superb.
