Vizcarra Torralvo 2016

I was very impressed by the 2016 Torralvo, a classical Ribera del Duero that shows what can be achieved in a vintage like 2016. It combines power and elegance, the oak is nicely integrated, there's ripeness without excess and a mixture of red and black fruit, some spices and Ribera del Duero typicity. The palate reveals concentration and finesse, fine, chalky tannins, very good balance and a notable finish. This has to be one of the finest, if not the finest, Torralvo ever. Bravo! 6,500 bottles were filled in September 2018. It should develop nicely in bottle.
