I tasted the 2021 P.F. next to the 2022 vintage, and this 2021 feels a lot more approachable, with a moderate 13% alcohol and having been in bottle for some 15 months now. It was produced with grapes from ungrafted vines older than 90 years of age at 900 meters above sea level, then fermented and matured in large oak vats. Despite having lower alcohol than the 2022 that I tasted next to it, it feels a little riper and more fruit-driven, more approachable. 18,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022.
Rich and fresh wild berries, mulberries, blueberries, wet stones and flowers, with some cloves and game. Medium- to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. There is a violet and sour cherry character on the succulent palate. Textured and pure with a vibrant, peppery finish. 100% bobal. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
