Luis Gutiérrez:

There's a new single-vineyard Garnacha. The 2022 Pilar del Cerro is from a vineyard on granite and limestone soils called La Muela. It fermented in open-top oak vats with one daily punch-down and matured in ceramic egg for 12 months. It has a ripe, slightly decadent nose of decayed violets, berries and wild herbs, very showy, a little intoxicating. It has 14.3% alcohol, a pH of 3.25 with six grams of acidity and abundant, slightly dusty tannins that gave it an earthy, slightly rustic twist. It needs to polish the palate a bit. 800 bottles were filled in May 2024.

Suckling:

Precise and minerally nose of raspberries, crushed strawberries, hibiscus and wet stones. Structured and tight on the palate, with taut, firm tannins and a long, minerally finish. Drink or hold. - Zekun Shuai, Senior Editor.
