Questo monovarietale Garnacha di Norrel Robertson è uno dei grandi vini dell'Aragona che mostra il potenziale incredibile di questa varietà nelle terre di Calatayud. Profumo
Dominato da aromi ancora molto freschi, profondi e complessi in continua evoluzione, con sfumature che vanno dalla carne arrosto, alla barbabietola, alla frutta rossa selvatica e al pepe, fino alla violetta schiacciata, alla mina di matita, alla ciliegia nera e a un leggero tocco di erbe di montagna man mano che il vino si apre.
Bocca
Potente ed elegante. Il tannino è deciso ma raffinato. Ha un finale persistente e fresco.

Perfetto con stufati speziati, carne alla griglia e formaggi stagionati.

Vigna e preparazione

Descrizione
Viene solo dai vigneti di Armantes, da alcuni appezzamenti vicini a circa 800 metri sul livello del mare.

I quattro appezzamenti coprono in totale 3,3 ettari.

Vigneti piantati tra il 1937 e il 1942.
Suolo
Argilla e pietra calcarea, una composizione che dà al Grenache un profilo più definito, floreale, con un'acidità intensa e un pH basso.
Rendimento
1.100 chili.
Raccolto
Anche se sono rivolte verso nord-ovest, le due parcelle sono state demmeggiate all'inizio della stagione in cassette da 20 chili.
Vinificazione
L'uva è stata conservata al freddo, tra 0 e 1 grado, con controllo dell'umidità. Fermentazione comune in un serbatoio aperto con il 20% di grappoli interi in un'unica tonalità. Pigiatura delicata una o due volte al giorno durante una fermentazione lunga, lenta e leggera dopo l'aumento della temperatura dell'uva. Successivamente, è stata effettuata una lunga macerazione con fermentazione malolattica con le bucce.
Invecchiamento
Dopo la pressatura, il vino è rimasto sulle fecce in botti di rovere francese a grana fine, di secondo utilizzo e da 500 litri, per 13 mesi.
Imbottigliamento

The 2020 El Cismático comes from their two plots in Armantes in Cervera de la Cañada that were planted between 1937 and 1942, and the wine has more effect from the limestone and whiter soils. In search of a more age-worthy wine, it matured in used barrels, and it has less effect from the oak, with increased finesse and fruit. Tasting this next to the 2021 had a similar effect as in the other wines where I tasted the 2020 and 2021 together—the effect of the vintage is more noticeable and even increased as the wines sat in the glass, opened up and got a little warmer too. It has fine tannins and a nice grip. It improved with time in the glass, developing more nuance and finesse and also a good sign about its aging capacity. 3,733 bottles were filled in December 2022. Attractive aromas of ripe cherries, wild raspberries, hints of licorice, dried flowers, blood orange and bitter chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied with vivid acidity that adds a lot of freshness and tension with orange peel and spice undertones. Very pure and pristine. A little chewy at the end with peppery notes to it. Chalky, mineral sensation in the finish. 100% garnacha. 20% whole bunch. Plantings between 1937 and 1942. Drink or hold.

Decanter:

An intense and complex wine reflecting its old vine provenance from a single site above Cervera de la Cañada. Spending 13 months in old, 500-litre French oak then a further eight months in cement, the structure of this Garnacha is reminiscent of top Châteauneuf-du-Pape but with a distinctly Calatayud character. Fresh garrigue aromas and dark fruit; deep and concentrated with a peppery finish. Will develop further.

El Cismático comes from Garnacha vines over 80 years old, planted in Armantes between 1937 and 1942. A fabulously complex wine that combines an earthy, beetroot yet fleshy palate born from marl and limestone soils, with perfumed floral and raspberry notes. Distinct garrigue and peppery notes lead to a saline finish. A vibrant and deep wine reflecting its high altitude (800m) and wild origins. 2023 - 2030.
